Job Description
Nium, Global Leader in Payments
Nium, the global leader in real-time, cross-border payments, was founded on the mission to deliver the global payments infrastructure of tomorrow, today. With the onset of the global economy, its payments infrastructure is shaping how banks, fintechs, and businesses everywhere collect, convert, and disburse funds instantly across borders.
Its payout network supports 100 currencies and spans 220+ markets, 100 of which in real-time. Funds can be disbursed to accounts, wallets, and cards and collected locally in 35 markets. Nium’s growing card issuance business is already available in 34 countries. Nium holds regulatory licenses and authorizations in more than 40 countries, enabling seamless onboarding, rapid integration, and compliance – independent of geography. The company is co-headquartered in San Francisco and Singapore.
The Role
This is a high-impact, high-autonomy leadership position for a product leader who thrives at the intersection of payments infrastructure, regulatory complexity, and market activation. Based in São Paulo, you will own Nium’s product strategy and execution across LATAM — with Brazil as your immediate priority.
You will serve as the senior product voice on the ground in the region, translating Nium’s global capabilities into locally-relevant products and navigating the regulatory and partnership landscape to unlock growth. This is not a role for someone who needs a playbook — it requires independent judgment, deep market knowledge, and the drive to build from the ground up.
What You’ll Do
Brazil Market Activation
Lead the product activation of Nium’s Brazil footprint, by owning the roadmap toward direct PIX integration — defining the technical, regulatory, and partnership milestones required to achieve this.
Drive the product workstream for Nium’s Corretora licence application, ensuring product and compliance requirements are translated into executable delivery plans.
Build and maintain relationships with local infrastructure providers, assessing tradeoffs and advising on partner selection.
Translate rapidly changing Brazilian regulatory requirements into actionable product decisions — serving as the connective tissue between compliance and product delivery.
Represent Nium’s product interests with local regulators, banking partners, and enterprise clients.
LATAM Expansion
Oversee product rollouts and localisation in Mexico, Colombia, Chile, and Argentina — ensuring Nium’s global product suite is adapted to meet local market, regulatory, and customer needs.
Establish a product operating model for the LATAM region, including discovery, prioritisation, and delivery frameworks that can operate with limited input from group.
Identify and prioritise the highest-value product opportunities across the region, working closely with commercial teams to align product investment with revenue potential.
Monitor competitor activity across LATAM markets and ensure Nium’s product positioning remains competitive.
Cross-functional Leadership
Partner with Engineering, Compliance, Legal, and Commercial teams — both locally and globally — to deliver against the LATAM product roadmap.
Influence without authority across a matrixed, globally distributed organisation; build alignment and momentum in an environment with limited formal structure.
Contribute to Nium’s broader product strategy, ensuring LATAM insights and opportunities are visible at the leadership level.
What We’re Looking For
Essential
5+ years of product management experience in fintech, with meaningful time spent on payments infrastructure, cross-border payments, or financial services in Brazil and/or broader LATAM.
Deep knowledge of the Brazilian payments ecosystem — PIX, FX services, and the evolving regulatory environment — including hands-on experience building or launching PIX-integrated products.
Proven track record navigating licensing and regulatory processes in LATAM, with the ability to convert complex compliance requirements into product delivery plans.
Experience working with or evaluating local financial infrastructure providers with an understanding of the strategic trade-offs involved.
Demonstrated ability to operate with significant autonomy in fast-moving, resource-constrained environments — you are comfortable setting your own direction.
Fluency in Portuguese and English; Spanish a strong advantage.
Strongly Preferred
Experience with payments, wallets, stablecoins in Brazil and / or across the region.
Background in a high-growth fintech or payments company that has scaled operations in LATAM.
Exposure to B2B or enterprise payments, particularly cross-border use cases.
Familiarity with the competitive dynamics of the Brazilian and broader LATAM payments market.
What Success Looks Like
In your first 6 months, you will:
Establish a clear, prioritised product roadmap for Brazil activation and LATAM regional rollouts.
Drive meaningful progress toward direct PIX access, including key partnership and regulatory milestones.
Develop a structured approach to offering stablecoins across gthe region.
Build trusted relationships with key local infrastructure and banking partners.
In your first year, you will:
Deliver the first direct PIX-integrated product capability for Nium in Brazil.
Establish a functioning product operating model across LATAM that scales with limited central support.
Be recognised internally as the authoritative voice on LATAM product strategy and market dynamics.
