Job Description

Overview

The Staff Accountant supports the financial operations of a senior living organization by assisting with general ledger activities, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and month-end close processes. This role works closely with the accounting team to ensure accurate financial records and compliance with company policies and accounting standards. The Staff Accountant will help maintain the financial integrity of multiple senior living communities and support operational leaders with financial information.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the month-end and year-end close process, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals and adjustments.
  • Assist with preparation of monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.
  • Analyze financial data and investigate variances.
  • Support accounts payable processes as needed.
  • Prepare bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Assist with budget preparation and forecasting activities.
  • Maintain accurate financial documentation and support audit requests.
  • Work collaboratively with operations and community teams to resolve accounting questions.
  • Assist with process improvements and internal control procedures.
  • Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • 1–3 years of accounting experience (internship experience may be considered).
  • Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and solve problems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Work Environment:

  • Typical office environment, with minimal exposure to excessive noise or adverse environmental issues. Flexibility for hybrid or remote work according to organizational policies
  • Travel for meetings, industry conferences and partnerships, as needed

Be able to occasionally lift and move objects weighing up to 10 pounds
