Penny Appeal USA

Penny Appeal USA was founded in 2016 and has a team of 11-50 employees. We are part of the international Penny Appeal family, which began in 2009 and includes offices in Australia, Canada, and South Africa, as well as country offices in Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Jerusalem.

We focus on transforming communities and ending cycles of poverty in the U.S. and internationally. We work with communities to address the root causes of poverty through programs such as:

• Feed Our World, which provides nutritious meals.
• OrphanKind, which supports orphaned children.
• Thirst Relief, which establishes wells for clean water.
• Zakat & Religious Giving, which offers various religious donations like Zakat, Fidyah/Kiffarah, Sadaqah Jariyah, Aqiqah, and Qurbani, all of which are Zakat-eligible.

We also conduct Winter Emergency campaigns to assist families with food, clothing, and blankets, and provide hot meals and fresh bread to Gaza families. Our Safe Space Initiative supports survivors of domestic abuse through shelter and healing, offering a 24-hour domestic violence hotline through Baitul Hemayah.

Since 2016, we have provided 3,347,660 meals, brought clean water to 173,664 people, and cared for 11,345 orphans. We have helped over one million people in total. We do not accept physical clothing donations or offer direct social assistance like cash transfers. Instead, we concentrate on sustainable projects and programs.

Our vision is a world where intergenerational poverty is eliminated, and marginalized communities no longer face socio-economic barriers. We envision a united and strong world where communities collaborate to overcome need and poverty.

Our philosophy, ‘Small Change, BIG Difference!’, aims to make charitable giving affordable and impactful. We believe that addressing the root causes of poverty requires working directly with the world’s poor. We foster inclusion to bridge the gap between donors, beneficiaries, and diverse communities for a sustainable end to poverty.

We employ between 11 and 50 individuals. We describe our team as passionate, with a vision for global impact. We encourage individuals to join our ‘Team Orange’ family of volunteers.

Our volunteer program offers opportunities such as local bag-packing, organizing charity dinners, or participating in physically demanding events. All these activities aim to make a difference in people’s lives.
