Provides free career advice and information to youth and adults through a community of professionals.

About CareerVillage.org

We started CareerVillage.org in 2011 as a civic and social organization. Our goal is to make career information and advice accessible to everyone. We connect over 7 million learners, mostly underrepresented youth and adults, with more than 190,000 volunteer professionals. Our platform is a community where people can ask career and educational questions and get guidance.

Users ask about various topics, from college majors like child development to specific course recommendations for careers in fields such as biology, law enforcement, therapy, and environmental conservation. They also seek insights into professions like mechanical engineering, law, teaching, photography, and mechanics.

We also offer Coach, an AI-powered career navigation tool. Coach helps workforce development programs and higher education institutions through different deployments, including widgets, embeds, and APIs. Our work focuses on education, technology, volunteering, and applying AI to career development and counseling. We are based in San Francisco, CA.

Mission & Values

Our mission is to make career information and advice accessible to underrepresented youth and adults. We believe that while talent is universal, opportunities are not, and we aim to close that gap.

We are an equal opportunity organization. This means we do not discriminate based on age, ethnicity, ancestry, gender, national origin, disability, race, size, religion, sexual orientation, socioeconomic background, or any other legally protected status. These same non-discrimination principles also apply to our registered users.

Team & Culture

Our core team has 11-50 people. We work remotely, with monthly travel for conferences and team gatherings.

We foster a culture that values purpose-driven work, teamwork, and a shared mission. We want employees to have a significant impact and grow professionally. We support this through expanding roles and offering professional development plans. Our culture emphasizes accountability, empathy, and focusing on user adoption and product renewals.

The team includes our Founder and Executive Director, along with staff in engineering, product, data, marketing, partnerships, and community roles. We are also supported by a Board of Directors, advisors, and interns.

Benefits & Perks

We offer comprehensive health plans, 401K matching, and a $1,500 annual budget for professional development. Employees get generous vacation, wellness policies, paid volunteer time, and parental and family leave.

We support networking, conference attendance, and individual professional development plans. Our remote-first work environment also provides flexibility.
