Job description
The Director, Consulting & Advisory Services will define, build and lead Quantinuum’s enterprise consulting and advisory capability, focused on helping organisations make informed, value-driven decisions about the adoption and deployment of quantum technologies. The role establishes consulting as a core commercial lever at Quantinuum, positioned between early-stage exploration, applied research, and scaled enterprise programmes.
This role is accountable for the overall consulting vision, including how advisory offerings are designed, positioned, sold, and delivered. The Director, Consulting & Advisory Services will shape a coherent portfolio of consulting services that address executive decision-making needs such as quantum readiness, use-case prioritisation, operating model design, and long-term technology road mapping within a defined industry vertical. These consulting services will be grounded in the Director, Consulting & Advisory Services’ technical and domain expertise.
The role involves direct leadership of complex client engagements. Acting as the senior advisor, the Director, Consulting & Advisory Services will work with C-suite and senior functional leaders to frame strategic questions, guide investment decisions, and structure multi-phase advisory and transformation programmes. Engagements are expected to be high-impact, bespoke, and closely linked to broader commercial outcomes.
Commercial contribution is a core element of the role. The Director, Consulting & Advisory Services will originate and shape advisory opportunities, partner with Strategic Account Executives on account strategy, and use consulting engagements to unlock larger pilots, programmes, and long-term partnerships. This includes personal involvement in scoping, selling and advising on technically complex engagements. Consulting is positioned as a growth engine of Quantinuum rather than a standalone delivery function.
Internally, the role is responsible for building and leading a small, senior consulting team. This includes defining the operating model, setting quality standards, developing methodologies and reusable assets, and ensuring tight integration with product, software, and research teams. The Director, Consulting & Advisory Services will operate as a “player-coach”, balancing personal delivery of offerings within [one of Finance, Chemicals & Materials or Pharmaceuticals] with practice leadership.
The role also represents Quantinuum externally as a trusted advisor and thought leader, shaping market dialogue on enterprise quantum adoption and positioning the firm as a credible partner for long-horizon, high-uncertainty technology decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategy Leadership: Define the consulting strategy, service portfolio, and operating model.
- Advisory Delivery: Lead and deliver high‑impact consulting engagements across one assigned vertical, personally advising on technically complex topics.
- Client Leadership: Guide senior client stakeholders and shape long‑term advisory programs.
- Practice Development: Build methodologies, frameworks, and repeatable advisory assets.
- Team Leadership: Recruit, coach, and develop consulting and advisory personnel.
- Account Expansion: Drive growth through scoped advisory work and structured engagements.
- Cross‑Functional Alignment: Partner with product, software, and research solutions teams.
- Thought Leadership: Represent Quantinuum at conferences, roundtables, and executive forums.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Demonstrated track record operating at Partner, Associate Partner or VP-equivalent seniority within consulting, advisory, transformation, or strategic leadership firms
- Demonstrated ability to scope, sell, and deliver complex advisory programs.
- Deep technical expertise in a relevant domain, with the ability to engage credibly on quantum technologies and their practical application.
- Strong executive presence and capability to advise C‑suite and technical leaders.
- Existing relationships within [one of Finance, Chemicals & Materials or Pharmaceuticals].
- Understanding of emerging technologies (quantum, AI/ML, HPC, cloud infrastructure) is preferred.
