Project Engineer

Oslo, Norway

We are looking for a Project Engineer or Junior Project Manager fluent in Norwegian with experience with hydrogen and PtX projects to take a central role in delivering high quality work within complex, multidisciplinary energy projects. Based in Oslo, you will work closely with our Norwegian clients and internal stakeholders, and your presence at Oslo´s client’s office will be a firm requirement to ensure strong collaboration and seamless project execution.

In this position, you will support the successful development and execution of multiple large-scale projects by coordinating cross-functional workstreams at an executive level. You will drive alignment across commercial, financial, legal and technical interfaces, ensuring that roles are clear, decisions are timely and information flows efficiently between teams. You will establish effective ways of working, including stakeholder overviews, interface lists and communication structures.

Your work will span structuring and facilitating key forums and follow-up cadences, such as weekly status sessions and issue-resolution discussions. You will track progress, actions, risks and dependencies across workstreams and ensure that updates are reflected in time schedules. You will consolidate inputs from a broad internal team into clear management reporting, and where scope or technical changes impact the business case, you will provide structured inputs to financial models to maintain an up-to-date commercial view.

Key responsibilities

  • Acquire proficiency in Ramboll’s Project Model and core PM/PMO toolset, thereby establishing robust project controls and governance discipline.
  • Coordinate cross-functional project workstreams and interfaces, driving alignment across commercial, financial, legal and technical teams to ensure clear scope ownership, timely inputs and delivery against agreed milestones.
  • Support commercial development by providing structured inputs to financial models.
  • Organize and facilitate key forums and follow-up cadences (e.g., weekly status meetings, interface sessions and issue-resolution discussions) to drive decisions and remove blockers.
  • Prepare and present structured status updates and management reporting, ensuring transparency on progress, risks, decisions and next steps.
  • Identify, assess and mitigate delivery risks across workstreams.
  • Manage senior stakeholders across clients, partners and internal teams.
  • Drive change control for assigned areas, ensuring stakeholder alignment, clear documentation of variations, and consistent follow-through on decisions.
  • Maintain accurate financial project data and invoicing.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Business, Economics, Finance, Construction Management or a related field
  • 3-8 years of experience in project delivery, PMO, project management, or cross-functional coordination in complex project environments
  • Experience from hydrogen and PtX projects is required, including working across technical, commercial and contractual interfaces and supporting business case inputs (e.g., cost estimates and financial model updates)

  • Solid commercial and contractual understanding, including scope, fees, interfaces and change impacts
  • Proficient in project management, planning, cost control, coordination, and reporting; highly disciplined in project governance and controls
  • Able to drive alignment and follow-through in dynamic environments with frequent changes
  • Confident communicator and facilitator, able to engage and align senior stakeholders
  • Quality-focused and structured approach to deliverables, documentation and reporting
  • Collaborative working style across technical and non-technical teams, comfortable coordinating interfaces and chasing inputs
  • Strong meeting management skills, including agenda setting, minutes/action tracking and driving timely decisions
  • Commercial and client-oriented mindset, able to support early project shaping, proposals and value-based decision-making
  • Analytical skills to structure complex inputs and translate scope/assumption changes into clear commercial implications and financial model inputs

Working conditions

This position is based in Oslo and might require significant presence at local client offices. Some travel to other offices or sites may be required, and collaboration across time zones may occasionally be necessary.
