Job Description

Learning Manager

Location: Georgia, remote with regular travel in the USA

Salary: $72,000 - $78,000 p.a. (full-time equivalent, dependent on experience)

Basis: Permanent contract; full-time, part-time or flexible

Eligibility: You must be eligible to work in the USA

The role

We are looking to recruit an experienced educator to join the Raspberry Pi Foundation.  The role will contribute to the development of high-quality educational materials and professional learning experiences across our programmes for young people aged 8 to 18.

You will have a background in computing science education, mathematics education, or a closely related field, with a track record of having created curricula, resources, learning experiences, or teacher professional development activities.

Artificial intelligence and machine learning applications are already changing many aspects of our lives. Young people who understand how AI works will be better equipped to engage with the world around them, make informed decisions about using and creating AI applications, and choose what role AI will play in their futures.

A central part of this role will be supporting and advancing Experience AI, an educational program that offers cutting-edge resources on artificial intelligence and machine learning for teachers and students aged 11–14. Developed in collaboration by the Raspberry Pi Foundation and Google DeepMind, Experience AI supports teachers in this exciting and fast-moving area of AI and gets young people passionate about the subject. You will play a key role in adapting, delivering, and scaling this program in the US, while contributing to its ongoing development.

This role is based in Georgia, a location in the US where we have an established team. While some work will focus locally, a significant portion will be national in scope, with opportunities to travel across the US.

We work hard to make sure that the Foundation is a place where everyone is supported to do the best work of their careers. We have a flexible and collaborative approach to all aspects of our work. If you’re the right person for the job, we’ll make it work for you, and you can be confident that you’ll be joining an exceptional team of people who care about our mission and each other.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver learning experiences, content, resources, and training for the Foundation’s educational programmes and products.
  • Ensure that learning experiences, content, resources, and training reflect evidence-based pedagogy and the Foundation’s agreed approaches to teaching and learning across formal education and non-formal learning.
  • Contribute to the development of the Foundation’s teaching and learning strategy and approaches. Actively engage with research and best practice, and identify areas for improvement and innovation.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation and external partners.
  • Engage positively with the Foundation’s systems for quality assurance, including in relation to agreed policies for inclusion and accessibility.
  • Proactively utilise user feedback and data to drive improvement.
  • Represent the Raspberry Pi Foundation to external audiences and stakeholders as required.
  • Contribute to the Foundation’s thought leadership through writing articles and blogs, public speaking, and contributing to research and evaluation.

Experience and personal attributes

We recognise that everyone has the potential for growth. We welcome applications from candidates who can demonstrate that they have some, but not necessarily all, of the experience and personal attributes listed here.

  • A thorough understanding of computing, with a degree or equivalent qualification in Computer Science, Mathematics or a related subject.
  • A teaching qualification or significant experience of teaching with at least 3 years experience of teaching computing science, mathematics, or a closely related field at middle and/or high school level.
  • Experience in designing and implementing AI literacy curriculum for students, combined with a demonstrable interest in the latest developments in AI for education.
  • Experience of delivering high quality learning experiences, content, resources, or training in a variety of different settings and contexts.
  • Comfortable with a broad range of technologies, including hardware and software platforms, and the ability and willingness to learn new technologies as required.
  • An understanding of computing pedagogy within formal education and informal learning.
  • A commitment to the Foundation’s mission and values, including on diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and a collaborative approach to working with colleagues and external partners. Openness to working across the Foundation’s programmes and products.
  • Willingness to travel in the US and potentially internationally.

About us

The Raspberry Pi Foundation is an independent nonprofit with a global mission to enable young people to realize their full potential through the power of computer science and digital technologies. In the US we operate through Raspberry Pi Foundation North America which is a registered 501©(3) organization.

We empower schools to teach computer science and AI literacy through free curricula, classroom resources, purpose built software tools, and professional development for teachers. We inspire young people to become tech creators through the world’s largest networks of coding clubs. We undertake original research that informs our work and which we use to advance the field of computer science education more broadly.

All of our resources and learning experiences are available for anyone to use at no cost. We are particularly focused on creating opportunities for young people who experience educational disadvantage and those who come from backgrounds traditionally underrepresented in technology industries.

Over the past decade, we have supported hundreds of thousands of educators and tens of millions of students. We have teams in six countries (India, Ireland, Kenya, South Africa, the UK and US) and partnerships with mission-aligned non-profit organisations in over 60 countries.

We are at the forefront of the global educational movement to expand access to computer science education and AI literacy. You can learn more about our work in our latest Annual Report.

Benefits

In addition to competitive salaries, we offer a range of benefits for all of our colleagues, including:

  • Paid time off. In addition to public holidays, full-time employees in the US receive 15 days of paid time off, plus 3 additional days of paid time off for the company-wide closure at the end of each year.
  • Retirement Savings Plan (401)(k). We match 100% of employee contributions up to the first 5%.
  • Private Healthcare. We provide private healthcare (including dental and vision) for you and for your dependents through United Healthcare and Guardian.
  • Flexible working. We have clear policies to provide flexibility over when and where you work, helping you balance work responsibilities with the rest of your life.
  • Support for parents and carers. We provide generous family leave and flexibility for parents and carers.
  • Group term life insurance & disability insurance. We provide insurance and income protection schemes to provide peace of mind for you and your family.
