About Salomon
We started in 1947 in Annecy, in the French Alps, driven by a love for outdoor sports. We specialize in Freeski & Ski Touring, Nordic Skiing, On-Piste & Alpine Racing, Hiking & Mountaineering, Running & Trail Running, and Snowboarding. We make equipment and apparel for men, women, and children, including ski gear, snowboard equipment, trail running shoes, and Sportstyle footwear and accessories.
Over the years, we’ve introduced products like the “Skade” ski bindings (1957), SX90 ski boots (1979), SNS boots and bindings for cross-country skiing (1980), and Monocoque skis (1991). In the late 1990s, we expanded to include snowboards, TenEighty freestyle skis, and rollerblades. Notable footwear models include the XA PRO shoes (2002), the S/LAB line (2005), and XT-6 trail shoes (2013).
We operate an automated production facility, Advanced Shoe Factory 4.0, in France, which opened in 2019. We also develop computational systems to design footwear and accessories faster, improve product performance and fit, and streamline our workflows using computational design, machine learning, and systems engineering. We manage brand experiences in running and outdoor sectors, organizing demos, events, and consumer promotions. A Salomon store opened on the Champs-Élysées in Paris in 2024.
