About School of Visual Arts - BFA Interior Design

Our BFA Interior Design program prepares students to design the built environment. The program was accredited by the Council for Interior Design from 2017 to 2023. Students learn to work with architects, engineers, and builders on residential, commercial, and public spaces. The curriculum covers Interior Design, Planning, Furniture and Finishings, Construction Documents, AutoCAD, Building and Interior Systems, Color Theory and Rendering, Computer-Aided Drafting and Design, Lighting and Specialty Design, Sustainable Design, Interior Materials and Finishes, Introduction to Revit: Building Information, Introduction to Rhino and Digital, Western Architecture: Art and Interior Design, World Architecture: Art and Interior Design, Modern and Contemporary Interiors, Critical Thinking for Interior Designers, Drafting: Basic Building Systems, Drawing: Environment and Composition, Drawing: Perspective, and Fabrication Techniques.

Beyond the BFA Interior Design program, we operate various departments that support our educational mission. These include our Student Engagement and Leadership department, which manages student organizations, campus traditions, and leadership initiatives, and oversees events like orientation and open houses. Our Disability Resources department coordinates and delivers accessibility and support services for students with disabilities. It provides resources, training, and assistive technologies, and ensures campus accessibility. The BFA 3D Animation and Visual Effects department’s Technology Manager oversees all systems that support teaching, learning, and production across Mac and PC environments. This manager also develops technology strategy and improves labs and studios. Our Financial Aid department advises students and families on federal, state, and institutional aid. We review applications, perform needs analyses, manage various financial aid programs, and ensure compliance with regulations.
