This position is Remote to work with a US Company; you will require to have Citizenship or a work permit from Costa Rica to apply for this role.
Role summary
You will support a one-year initiative to migrate existing Power BI reports from on-premises Power BI Report Server to Power BI Service (Cloud). This role focuses on report redevelopment, data modeling validation, version control, and documentation to ensure a seamless and scalable cloud-based reporting environment.
Responsibilities
Analyze and migrate existing Power BI reports from on-prem Report Server to Power BI Service (Cloud).
Refactor datasets, data models, and reports to align with cloud best practices.
Validate data accuracy, performance, and report functionality post-migration.
Optimize data models using fact and dimension design principles.
Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure business requirements are preserved during migration.
Implement version control practices using Git for report and dataset management.
Document migration processes, data models, and reporting standards in Confluence or similar tools.
Support testing, validation, and user acceptance processes.
Provide recommendations for performance optimization and scalability in Power BI Service.
Requirements – Must-haves
2+ years of experience developing reports and dashboards in Power BI (on-prem and/or Cloud).
2+ years of experience as a Data Analyst working with large datasets.
Strong understanding of data modeling concepts (facts, dimensions, star schema design).
Experience using Git for version control in BI or development projects.
Proven experience documenting technical processes in Confluence or similar platforms.
Strong SQL skills for querying and validating datasets.
Ability to work independently in a remote environment and meet project deadlines.
Nice-to-haves (optional)
Experience migrating reports from Power BI Report Server to Power BI Service.
Familiarity with Azure-based data environments.
Experience optimizing Power BI performance in large-scale data environments.
Knowledge of governance and workspace management in Power BI Service.
