About SoLa Impact
We are a social impact real estate fund that preserves, refreshes, and creates high-quality affordable housing in low-income communities. We aim to spur economic development and offer educational opportunities in these communities, primarily in the greater South Los Angeles area. We use data-driven strategies to generate financial returns while making a social impact. We own and manage over 1,500 apartments in South Los Angeles and plan to build and renovate another 1,500 affordable units through Opportunity Zone projects. This includes acquiring and rehabilitating “The Beehive,” an Opportunity Zone Business Campus. In February 2020, Forbes Magazine and the Sorenson Impact Center called us the nation’s leading Urban Opportunity Zone fund.
Our social impact efforts include securing approximately $1.4 million in resident resources, distributing $588K in school supplies, toys, and family resources, and distributing over $20 million in furniture, household goods, and food. We’ve also provided 2,537 hours of free tech career skills instruction to over 1,700 students. We offer tenants access to workforce training, job placement, financial literacy, and educational opportunities.
Our Model/Z initiatives are developing AI-enabled software in Z/Suite to speed up affordable modular housing development. This means evaluating large language models, optimizing AI agents, and refining decision logic. We also do manufacturing engineering for modular housing, focusing on developing and improving production processes to ensure scalable production and quality. This helps us work towards reducing homelessness and promoting equitable growth.
Mission & Values
Our philosophy is “Doing Well by Doing Good.” We aim to produce market returns for investors while revitalizing urban areas. We use private capital to create high-quality, affordable urban housing. This means creating jobs, revitalizing neighborhoods, empowering less advantaged individuals, and changing lives.
We strive to prevent homelessness, break intergenerational poverty, create jobs, and revitalize underinvested communities in South LA. Our philosophy is to uplift, not uproot.
