Position Overview
StepStone is looking for a detail-oriented, proactive professional who will provide dedicated data-related support for the Firm’s investor relations and business development activities in the private markets (specifically, private equity, infrastructure, real estate, and private debt). This role will be responsible for evaluating investment performance data to execute Requests for Proposals (RFPs), as well as other business development activities.
Essential Job Functions:
- Provide data-driven support for the Firm’s business development and RFP activities, with a large focus on completing data-related responses required for these activities.
- Use Firm’s performance reporting systems, spreadsheet data models, and other analytics dashboard tools (e.g., Power BI and Power Query) to compile accurate and timely data responses required by Requests for Proposals, business development activities, and other investor due diligence questionnaires from current and prospective
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to compile data-related items and generate a Statement of Work (SOW).
- Provide support in various aspects of the fundraising process, with a large focus on completing Requests for
- Perform customized/ad-hoc analyses and manage data exhibits related to the Firm’s performance track record composites and Assets Under Management/Assets Under Advisory client datasets, to demonstrate capabilities, experience, and historical trends. This could include a variety of the Firm’s commingled fund investment capabilities and multi-asset class investment products.
- Provide support on developing new and enhancing existing presentation data-related content for marketing
- Demonstrate a proactive approach to problem-solving, leveraging various resources to find effective solutions, including providing support on enhancing existing operational processes.
- Convey numerical information to end users and audiences effectively, typically done through storytelling.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required with a concentration in finance, business accounting, economics, or equivalent
- At least one year of relevant experience
- Prior experience with the use of data analysis and storytelling through

- Strong analytical and organizational skills and high attention to
- Highly motivated self-starter, with demonstrated history of taking initiative, being adaptive in a fast-changing environment, and working independently.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills needed for cross team
- Ability to produce timely and accurate data deliverables/cuts using a combination of performance reporting software, large spreadsheet data models, and analytics dashboards (e.g., Power BI, Power Query, Excel).
- Experience with data analytics software and coding languages such as SQL and DAX
- General comfort and ease within the Excel spreadsheet environment, including ability to periodically adapt/add to existing spreadsheet designs to deliver novel, customized data cuts requested.
- General familiarity with private markets performance and exposure reporting.
Salary Range: $68,000 - $70,595
The salary range is an estimate of pay for this position. Actual pay may vary depending on job-related factors that can include location, education, skill, and experience. The salary range does not include any benefits or other forms of possible compensation that may be available to employees.
