Job Description
TAL’s legal team plays a vital role in helping Australians live their best lives by ensuring our decisions are grounded in strong, responsible legal thinking. In this role, you’ll use your expertise to guide the business with clarity and confidence, shaping outcomes that protect our customers and strengthen trust in everything we do. Working closely with people across TAL, you’ll influence how we navigate complex issues and contribute to a culture that values integrity, good judgement and doing what’s right.
In This Role You Will:
- Resolve litigated matters effectively through strategic engagement with external lawyers
- Achieve fair outcomes by managing AFCA and other external dispute processes
- Strengthen decision‑making by delivering clear, timely legal guidance to claims, underwriting and broader teams
- Build capability across the business by providing targeted legal training
- Support strong governance by advising on Life Insurance Code of Practice obligations
- Enhance customer outcomes by guiding the Internal Dispute Resolution function
- Improve product and commercial clarity by assisting legal teams in reviewing key documentation
Please note, this is a 12-month fixed term contract.
Qualifications
- Hold admission to practise law and apply strong foundational legal knowledge with at least 3 years PQE
- Bring practical experience in financial services and an interest in deepening industry expertise
- Understand and have knowledge of insurance law
- Communicate clearly and constructively with a wide range of stakeholders
- Work collaboratively, contributing to a supportive, team‑focused environment
- Abilty to stay organised and manage time effectively to deliver quality outcomes in a fast‑paced setting
