Join Baines Simmon s
Baines Simmons builds the competence behind aerospace and defense safety. For 25 years we have delivered expert, approachable training and consulting to civil and military aviation organisations worldwide: more than 750 organisations served, over 200,000 professionals trained, and 40 or more regulatory authorities advised.
We work as one with our clients, sharing serious know-how, rigor and expertise. Across every sector, and alongside global regulators, we help organisations continuously improve safety, airworthiness and compliance. We go beyond helping them comply with regulations; we empower them to excel in operational and safety performance.
We look for curiosity, passion, leadership and impact. Our people do not just advise on safety. They change how clients manage it. If you want your work to make a measurable difference to aviation safety, we would like to hear from you.
One organisation, four brands
Baines Simmons is one of four TrustFlight brands. TrustFlight is the Aerospace Safety Intelligence Platform, building the technology that helps aviation operate safely and stay compliant. Redline Assured Security delivers government-standard aviation security, and Kenyon International delivers crisis management and response. Each brand keeps its own name, heritage and team. Together we share one platform, one set of values and one purpose: closing the gaps between disconnected tools and providers, because those gaps are where risk accumulates. Working at Baines Simmons means your expertise connects to all four.
Why people stay
We believe people do their best work when they have the freedom to do their job without too many rules and barriers getting in the way. Our culture is built on empowerment and trust: we hire good people and expect them to make the right calls for the customer, company, and themselves. Transforming an industry means our people have to keep learning. We earn our clients’ confidence by being honest and dependable with each other, and that includes caring about the important things in life outside of work.
Our offices in the UK, Canada, the US and Jersey are where teams meet to collaborate and plan. People who deliver earn more say in how their career develops, from the path they take to the flexibility they need.
If you want to make a real difference to safety, this is the place to be.
Why this role matters
As a Technical Editor, you will develop specialist expertise in technical documentation within the aviation industry while enjoying the flexibility of a fully remote working environment. You will play a key role in transforming complex technical and corporate information into professional, structured and user-friendly documentation, working closely with subject matter experts, colleagues and clients across our global business to ensure documentation meets the highest standards of quality, consistency and compliance.
This role will suit someone who enjoys taking ownership, learning quickly and working through complex or unfamiliar information without needing constant supervision, with a keen eye for detail. You should be comfortable asking good questions, using sound judgement and making steady progress even when source information is incomplete, priorities change or deadlines are tight.
We are looking for people who are naturally curious, patient and resilient: people who enjoy new challenges, are willing to step outside their comfort zone, and take pride in producing accurate, structured and professional documentation that supports safety, compliance and customer outcomes.
What you will do
Structure, format, edit and publish complex technical and corporate documentation using Microsoft Word alongside MadCap Flare and MadCap Central.
Create, maintain and update technical content based on information provided by subject matter experts and project stakeholders.
Transform complex, technical or incomplete source information into clear, professional and well-structured documentation.
Ensure documentation is accurate, consistent, compliant with company standards and delivered on schedule.
Manage and edit large documentation sets, typically ranging from 200 to 800 pages.
Collaborate with colleagues across multiple departments and geographic locations to gather information and validate content.
Liaise with other functional areas of the business to ensure technical content remains accurate and up to date.
Identify opportunities to improve documentation quality, efficiency, consistency and publishing processes.
Support the development and implementation of new documentation standards, workflows and best practices.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance both customer outcomes and internal productivity.
What success looks like
You are working confidently and independently in MadCap Flare and MadCap Central, having completed the structured onboarding and training programme.
You are delivering large documentation sets (typically 200 to 800 pages) that are accurate, consistent, compliant with company standards and on schedule, within allocated project hours.
You have contributed practical improvements to documentation quality, standards, workflows or publishing processes.
Training and progression
No previous experience with MadCap software is required. A structured onboarding and training programme will give you the knowledge, tools and support you need to succeed in the role.
This is a role where you will be supported but also trusted to take ownership. We will provide training, guidance and access to subject matter experts, while encouraging you to build confidence, use initiative and develop your judgement over time.
We are committed to supporting long-term development and creating genuine opportunities for progression within the team, in terms of both pay and responsibility. As you develop in the role, there may be opportunities to take on more complex documentation projects, contribute to process improvements, support new documentation standards, mentor others, and build deeper expertise in aviation technical documentation and publishing tools.
