Job Description

This Systems Engineer role is an individual contributor role responsible for identifying and resolving issues of moderate complexity. This position is at an entry level and requires strong execution and analytical abilities. This role works independently and receives minimal guidance.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain, and upgrade z/OS, z/VM and z/TPF operating systems.
  • Install, maintain and upgrade various third-party software tools.
  • Provide 24x7 production support of Visa operations and second-level z/OS, z/VM and z/TPF application and system support. Requires on-call rotational support for geographically dispersed data centers.
  • Manage workload and escalate to Sr. Engineers and manager, as needed.
  • Work with other support, development, and user groups to manage requests from the perspective of infrastructure design and functionality.
  • Work with vendors on software upgrades and problems as needed.
  • Work with management and users from all levels of knowledge and expertise.
  • Aid applications and operations teams with problem determination.
  • z/OS Network Engineer: Configure, monitor and troubleshoot VTAM, TCP/IP and related network components to ensure optimal connectivity and performance.
  • z/OS Automation Engineer: Design, implement and maintain automation solutions (SA-z/OS, REXX, OPS/MVS, etc.) to improve system resiliency and reduce manual interventions.
  • z/OS Hardware Engineer: Perform HCD/HCM updates, I/O definition changes, and coordinate with hardware vendors on installation and maintenance of mainframe processors, DASD, tape and related peripherals.
  • z/OS Storage & Capacity Engineer: You will be involved in the administration and optimization of mainframe storage subsystems, including DASD and tape. This includes managing storage pools, ensuring data backup and recovery, and assisting with performance tuning and capacity planning to ensure the optimal use of storage resources.
  • z/VM Systems Engineer: Your responsibilities will include assisting with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of the z/VM operating system. You will help create and manage virtual machines, provide technical support for the virtualization environment, and support the integration between z/VM and z/OS systems.
  • z/TPF Systems Engineer: You will contribute to the design, coding, testing, and implementation of the Transaction Processing Facility (TPF) operating system or the TPF Database (TPFDF). This includes supporting the TPF infrastructure, assisting with migrations to z/TPF, and troubleshooting to ensure high transaction throughput.
  • Candidates with a potential interest in applying or learning coding languages such as C, C++, Python, Rexx, and SAS are encouraged to apply.

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.

Qualifications

So, what are we looking for in a Network and Security Intern?

  • We welcome applications from Singapore citizens and Singapore Permanent Residents. All candidates must have existing, and continuing, right to work in Singapore.

  • Penultimate year undergraduate students graduating between December 2026 – May 2027

  • Able to work full-time for 12 weeks between May 2026 and August 2026.

  • Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computing, Information Systems, or a related field

  • Basic knowledge of z/OS, z/VM and z/TPF operating systems and significant subsystems.

  • Working knowledge of z/OS, z/VM and z/TPF tools and subsystems, including but not exclusive to: JCL, TSO, ISPF, SDSF.

  • Basic knowledge of documentation tools, such as Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint.

  • Team player with strong communication skills.

  • Excellent problem-determination skills.

  • Ability to work independently
