Voltus

We operate a distributed energy resource (DER) technology platform and virtual power plant (VPP) that connects DERs to electricity markets. Our goal is to deliver less expensive, more reliable, and more sustainable electricity. We serve commercial, industrial, residential, and transportation energy users, as well as DER partners. We enable customers to generate cash by maximizing the value of their flexible load, distributed generation, energy storage, energy efficiency, and electric vehicle resources in electricity markets. We pay energy users to reduce electricity use in response to grid signals or high prices, which helps grid reliability.

Our services include demand response, price response, carbon reduction payments, demand charge avoidance, and energy management technology. Our technology platform lets users track past and future payments, real-time energy data, and avoided CO2 emissions. It operates across all nine wholesale power markets in the US and Canada: AESO, CAISO, SPP, ERCOT, MISO, IESO, PJM, NYISO, and ISO-NE, monetizing various types of DERs. Internally, we use a modern technology stack on AWS, including Go, Python, React, and Docker, for our core services and APIs.

We support 8.1 GW of DERs and serve 50 industries through over 70 programs (energy, capacity, ancillary services, and demand charge avoidance). More than 22,000 sites participate, and we’ve completed over 35,000 dispatches, paying customers over $200 million. Our VPP and demand response services have helped avoid over 440,000 metric tons of CO2.

We are a fully remote company with 201-500 employees. Our team members can work from various locations, typically within their home country (US or Canada, unless specified otherwise), considering regulatory and security factors. We do not sponsor visas or transfers for new hires.
