Why this role matters:

The Messaging team is responsible for delivering cutting-edge communication solutions across multiple platforms within Vonage.

We’re currently building one of our most ambitious projects: the CHAT API solution. This new platform will unify team messaging, SMS, MMS, WhatsApp, email, and Facebook messaging into a single offering. It will serve as a foundation across the organization and power various Vonage products.

We are a full-stack team that works end-to-end—from UI to backend. Our team combines deep technical expertise with a passion for learning and growing together. We value creativity, collaboration, and having fun while solving hard problems.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Contribute to developing new features and maintaining existing systems within our messaging platform
  • Collaborate with experienced team members in both frontend and backend development
  • Learn and apply software engineering best practices (testing, version control, CI/CD, etc.)
  • Participate in code reviews, team discussions, and Agile ceremonies
  • Help troubleshoot and resolve production issues with guidance from senior developers
  • Continuously grow your skills through hands-on experience and mentorship

What you’ll bring

Required:

  • 1–3 years of experience in software development (professional or academic/personal projects)
  • Knowledge of at least one programming language (Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python)
  • Familiarity with basic web development principles (frontend or backend)
  • Exposure to databases (relational or non-relational)
  • Eagerness to learn cloud technologies and modern software engineering practices
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work in a collaborative, global team

Experience we consider a plus:

  • Exposure to cloud platforms (e.g., AWS) or containerization tools (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Familiarity with Git and CI/CD workflows
  • Understanding of REST APIs or microservices
  • Bachelor’s degree (completed or in progress) in Computer Science or related field#LI-JM2
