Company Description
Our agency client is seeking a Media Planner to support planning and execution for a higher education client. This role offers hands-on experience developing multi-channel media campaigns targeting prospective students while building foundational expertise in education marketing. You’ll work closely with senior planning and buying teams to deliver campaigns that drive enrollment results.
Contract Details:
- 35-40 hours/week
- 6 month engagement, with strong likelihood to extend into 12 months
- Immediate start
- Looking for candidates based in Boston or NYC but the role will be remote. EST is ideal
- $45-50/hr
Job Description
Campaign Planning & Management:
- Assist in developing integrated media plans that reach prospective students across awareness, consideration, and conversion stages
- Create media flowcharts, budget tracking documents, and authorizations for campaigns across traditional and digital channels
- Manage day-to-day budget pacing and ensure accurate tracking across all media placements
- Execute and oversee media buys, working with buying team to resolve discrepancies and ensure delivery
- Support development of audience targeting strategies based on academic program interests, demographics, and geographic priorities
Execution & Coordination:
- Relay campaign direction to media staff through clear written and verbal communication
- Coordinate with buying team, creative, and analytics to ensure seamless campaign launches
- Monitor campaign delivery and flag pacing or performance issues to senior planning team
- Maintain organized campaign documentation and update stakeholders on status
- Train and support Assistant Planners on media fundamentals and planning processes
Research & Analysis:
- Utilize syndicated research tools (Nielsen, MRI, Comscore) to understand student media consumption behaviors
- Analyze campaign performance data and identify optimization opportunities
- Research media opportunities relevant to higher education recruitment (campus-focused platforms, student discount programs, etc.)
- Stay informed on higher education marketing trends and Gen Z platform preferences
- Investigate new media tactics that could support enrollment goals
Client & Vendor Relations:
- Support client meetings and presentations, demonstrating knowledge of campaigns and institutional objectives
- Develop relationships with media vendors and negotiate added value where appropriate
- Maintain communication with internal agency teams to ensure alignment on goals and deliverables
- Deliver POVs and recommendations relevant to recruitment challenges and opportunities
Qualifications
- 1-3 years as Assistant Media Planner or related advertising/marketing experience
- Exposure to higher education marketing, education services, student audience marketing, or willingness to quickly learn the category
- Planning experience across multiple channels: Video (TV, CTV, OLV), Audio (Streaming, Podcast, Radio), Digital (Display, Social, Search), and Out-of-Home/DOOH
- Proficiency with media planning tools: Nielsen AdIntel, MRI-Simmons, Telmar, Strata
- Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills for budget management and presentation creation
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively
