Job Description

At Zego, we know that traditional motor insurance holds good drivers back. It’s too complicated, too expensive, and it doesn’t take into account how well you actually drive.

That’s why, since 2016, we’ve been on a mission to change all of that. Our mission at Zego is to offer the lowest priced insurance for good drivers.

From van drivers and gig workers to everyday car drivers, our customers are our driving force — they’re at the heart of everything we do.

We’ve sold tens of millions of policies so far, and raised over $200 million in funding. And we’re only just getting started.

About the role

We are looking for a Senior AI Product Manager who doesn’t just talk about AI. They build with it, ship with it, and use it to fundamentally change how products are made.

This is not a role for someone who wants to run a tidy backlog and attend stand-ups. This is a role for a builder. Someone who has stared at a blank page and turned it into something real. Someone who moves at a pace that makes others uncomfortable, makes bold calls with imperfect information, and holds themselves accountable to outcomes, not outputs.

You will work directly with Zego’s leadership team, operating at the intersection of product, data, and engineering. This is a rare opportunity to define the AI product playbook at a high-growth insurtech, from scratch.

Why this role, why now

AI is not a feature at Zego, it’s a strategic priority. We’re at an inflection point where the decisions made in the next 12 months will define how we serve customers, how we operate as a business, and how fast we can grow. This role sits right at the centre of that.

If you want a role where you can point at something real and say “I built that”, this is it.

What you will be doing

  • Build 0-to-1 AI products. Lead the discovery, design, and delivery of new AI-powered features and propositions, from loose hypothesis to live product. You’re not handing this off; you’re in the trenches.
  • Move fast and validate faster. Design lightweight experiments to test AI hypotheses before committing engineering resource. You know that speed of learning is the leading metric, and you architect your work accordingly.
  • Embed AI across the product organisation. Identify where AI tooling (LLMs, agents, automation) can materially accelerate how our PMs, designers, and engineers work. Then make it happen, not in a deck, but in practice.
  • Translate complexity into clarity. Work closely with ML engineers, data scientists, and software engineers to understand what’s technically feasible and push the boundaries of it. You can engage credibly on model behaviour, data pipelines, and system design.
  • Define and track what matters. Set rigorous success metrics for every AI initiative. You’re comfortable building the measurement framework from scratch and iterating on it as you learn.
  • Be a force multiplier for the team. Mentor and upskill other PMs on AI-native ways of working. Help build a culture where AI is a default tool, not an afterthought.

What you will need to be successful

  • You have a founder’s mindset. You don’t wait for permission, resources, or perfect conditions. You find a way. You own outcomes end-to-end and hold yourself to a high bar
  • You’ve built things from scratch. You have concrete examples of 0-to-1 product work, ideally with an AI/ML component. You know what it takes to go from nothing to something people actually use.
  • You’re an AI practitioner, not just an AI enthusiast. You use AI tools daily. You’ve shipped AI-powered features. You understand the difference between a fine-tuned model and a RAG pipeline, and you know when each is the right call.
  • You move at pace, with rigour. Fast doesn’t mean sloppy. You design clean experiments, make data-grounded decisions, and build things that scale. You just do it faster than most.
  • You’re commercially sharp. You connect AI capability to business value instinctively. You think in terms of unit economics, conversion, retention, and ROI, not just model accuracy or technical elegance.
  • You can go deep technically. You’re not an engineer, but you’re not intimidated by engineers either. You can read a system diagram, interrogate a data pipeline, and challenge architectural decisions with confidence.
  • You communicate with clarity and conviction. Whether you’re briefing the leadership team, aligning a cross-functional squad, or writing a one-pager at 11pm, you make complex ideas land simply and persuasively.
  • You’re genuinely curious and relentlessly resourceful. The AI landscape changes weekly. You stay ahead of it, experiment constantly, and bring new ideas to the table before anyone asks.
