Principal Financial Analyst – Marketing

About the Team
The Finance team at HubSpot is a strategic partner driving growth, operational excellence, and long-term value. We work hand-in-hand with business leaders to help shape critical decisions and optimize investments. This role will partner directly with the Marketing organization, acting as a trusted advisor for executives and budget owners across all teams including Demand, Brand, Media, Product Marketing and others.
What you will be doing
- Business Partnership & Strategic Guidance
Support the development and execution of short- and long-term marketing strategies with data-driven financial insights.
- Financial Planning, Forecasting & Reporting
Lead the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes for Marketing, ensuring alignment with company objectives and ROI targets.
Deliver actionable recommendations for investment allocation and resource optimization
- Build dashboards and deliver monthly reporting on key metrics, actuals v. plan, and trend analysis for executives.
- Performance Management & ROI Analysis
Partner with marketing and data teams to design and implement frameworks for measuring and improving Marketing performance, including campaign ROI, Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC), and Customer Lifetime Value (LTV).
Partner with each Marketing leader to own key business metrics, set goals and track outcomes.
- Provide deep dive analysis to tie Marketing related goals (leads, conversion, brand awareness) to financial and sales goals. Assess the ROI of various campaigns and incrementality of marketing performance across verticals
- Process & Systems Improvement
Identify, recommend, and help drive automations and best practices in Marketing finance operations, modeling, and reporting. Collaborate cross-functionally to establish scalable processes and systems.
- Special Projects
Lead and support ad hoc analysis on marketing initiatives such as new product launches, partnership evaluations, event investments, and vendor negotiations.
What you will bring
- Experience & Expertise
7+ years in FP&A, Finance Business Partnering, or related roles, ideally at a SaaS, tech, or high-growth company.
Experience supporting Marketing performance metrics, digital marketing economics, and applied financial analysis.
- Proven track record building relationships and influence across a diverse set of stakeholders, including navigating complex or strongly held points of view to drive alignment and forward momentum.
- Analytical & Technical Skills
Outstanding analytical, modeling, and quantitative skills with proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets, financial forecasting software (Adaptive, OneStream, Netsuite, ANAPLAN) and experience with BI/reporting tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau, Power BI). Experience with Allocadia is a plus.
Ability to approach problems systematically, connect dots, and translate complex data into actionable guidance.
- Business Acumen & Influence
Exceptional business judgment and a collaborative approach, with the ability to influence decisions and build consensus among Marketing and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Communication & Storytelling
Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate complex topics to non-financial audiences, including executives.
- Initiative & Adaptability
Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and is energized by ambiguity, change, and rapid growth.
- Education
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a related field required. MBA, CFA, or CPA a plus.

Cash compensation range: 118500-189600 USD Annually
Pay & Benefits
The cash compensation below includes base salary, on-target commission for employees in eligible roles, and annual bonus targets under HubSpot’s bonus plan for eligible roles. In addition to cash compensation, some roles are eligible to participate in HubSpot’s equity plan to receive restricted stock units (RSUs). Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay. Individual compensation packages are tailored to your skills, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.

Annual Cash Compensation Range:
$118,500—$189,600 USD
