Job Purpose

Great Minds is seeking a strategic and hands-on leader to oversee our Total Rewards and HR Systems functions. This role is critical in aligning our compensation, benefits, and HR technology strategies with the organization’s mission and growth goals. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in designing competitive, scalable rewards programs and optimizing HR systems to enhance employee experience, support data-driven decision making, and drive operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Total Rewards Strategy:

    • Partner with Chief HR Officer and Great Minds executives to craft and maintain a relevant, comprehensive compensation and total rewards philosophy that accelerates Great Minds’ broader business strategy infused with key market insights and current best practices.

    • Lead annual strategic planning for rewards programs and budgets in close partnership with Finance.

    • Partner with Talent Acquisition to create competitive, market-aligned offers and internal mobility strategies.

    • Maintain salary structures, career ladders, competencies, and variable pay programs, including executive compensation, sales incentive and short-term incentive plans.

    • Build sustainable relationships with benefits brokers and providers to ensure seamless annual open enrollment processes.

    • Evaluate market trends and benchmarks to ensure competitiveness and cost-effectiveness of compensation and benefits programs.

  • HR Systems Strategy:

    • Oversee HR technology platforms and lead initiatives to streamline HR processes, improve data accuracy, and enhance employee experience.

    • Partner with IT and external vendors to evaluate and implement system enhancements aligned with business needs.

    • Explore and develop AI-enabled tools to drive efficiency in delivery of HR processes and employee support.

    • Establish, monitor, and analyze key compensation, benefits, and system metrics (e.g., usage, compliance, engagement, cost-effectiveness, ROI).

    • Deliver clear reporting and insights to senior leadership for data-driven decision making.

    • Drive automation and optimization of HR systems and workflows to improve efficiency, data integrity, and overall experience for employees and managers.

  • Communication:

    • Lead the communication and change management efforts related to compensation and benefits policies and programs.

    • Develop strategies to educate executives and managers to fully leverage compensation strategy and to increase employee awareness and understanding of compensation and benefits program offerings.

  • Compliance & Governance:

    • Ensure all total rewards programs and HR systems/technology comply with legal requirements and industry standards.

    • Stay current with best practices, regulatory changes, and market trends to maintain a proactive approach.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in total rewards, compensation, benefits, and HR systems, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

  • Ability to build employee centric rewards programs while balancing business goals and financial boundaries

  • Proven success in designing and implementing scalable rewards strategies in a fast-changing environment.

  • Deep knowledge of compensation structures, job architecture, executive compensation, sales commissions, benefits programs, and compliance requirements.

  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and market trends into actionable strategies.

  • Experience with HRIS systems (e.g., Dayforce, ADP, Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, Oracle HCM) and data-driven HR practices.

  • Demonstrated interest in learning and leveraging AI capabilities to deliver employee value.

  • Excellent interpersonal communication and stakeholder management skills; able to influence across all levels of the organization.

Required Education

Bachelor’s degree in related field, graduate degree preferred.

Location

Remote - Must by based on Eastern Time Zone, preferably within four hours of Washington DC.

The expected base salary range for this position is $207,000-$225,000, however the offered salarymay be higher or lower than the above range dependent on numerous factors including, but not limited to location, work experience, skills and internal equity considerations. The base salary is not inclusive of benefits or other incentives.
