A fantastic 12-month opportunity has become available for an accounting professional to work in a key role within a growing and ambitious FTSE 250 business. As a member of the External Reporting team, you will be involved in our financial, strategic and ESG-related external reporting, as well as supporting on a range of ad hoc projects.
In this role, you will work closely with a range of internal stakeholders across the business and within the Finance team.
This is a great opportunity for someone who is organised, diligent and proactive. We are particularly keen to talk to candidates who are quick to learn and can demonstrate experience of shaping and drafting reports.
Key responsibilities
Financial and strategic reporting
- Assist in the external reporting year end and half year processes
- Assist in shaping the Strategic Report and collating all necessary information
- Assist in drafting key statements of the Annual Report
- Preparation of period end papers for the Audit Committee and External Auditors
- Assist in ensuring compliance with listed company regulatory requirements
- Preparation of technical papers assessing the potential impacts of new or relevant accounting standards and reporting requirements
- Apply commercial awareness and knowledge of the market to our external reporting
- Keep up to date with regulatory requirements and best practice in corporate reporting
ESG reporting
- Support in complying with ESG-related requirements, including drafting the Group’s ESG and TCFD reporting
- Assist in complying with ESG-related requirements, such as in the calculation and modelling of our GHG emissions
- Collate and report a quarterly ESG metrics dashboard
Projects
- Assist in ad hoc tasks and project work to support the Head of External Reporting and Director of Corporate Reporting
- Maintain a strong working knowledge of the market and our internal business structures
Candidates who are qualified ACA/ACCA with the following experience and skills will be of particular interest
- Experience of financial reporting in a listed company
- Experience in audit
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Strong panning, organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise
- Fast learner who is adaptable and can work independently
- Experience of drafting policies and procedures
- Good working knowledge of IFRS and FRS101
- Logical mindset; able to solve problems with an ‘eye for detail’
- Flexible and highly motivated
- Strong IT skills including Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word
Desirable Competencies
- Experience in the Financial Services sector
- Experience of ESG and TCFD reporting
