About the Delivery Team:

We are servant leaders who lead from the front - bringing clarity, pace, and a relentless focus on execution. But great delivery isn’t just about pushing work through - it’s about how you bring people with you.

We work closely with Product, Engineering, and the wider Technology organisation to ensure our teams stay aligned, engaged, and focused on the right outcomes. We bring people together, build trust quickly, and rely on strong relationships and emotional intelligence to navigate complexity and drive progress.

We challenge the status quo when needed, ask the hard questions, and hold the line on quality and delivery. We tell the right stories to unlock decisions, clear blockers, and keep delivery moving - even when the path isn’t straightforward.

We’re disciplined about how we track progress and transparent in how we report it - always ensuring there’s a clear view of what’s on track, what’s at risk, and where support is needed. We actively manage risks, surface hidden issues early, and stay close to dependencies that could impact our ability to deliver.

We deliver through others - so our role is to create the space, structure, and momentum for teams to do their best work. And we take that responsibility seriously.

What makes this role exciting and challenging:

The Delivery Lead plays a critical role in turning platform strategy into execution - ensuring complex infrastructure and reliability initiatives are delivered safely, predictably, and at scale. This role sits at the centre of Platform Engineering, working closely with Platform Engineers, SREs, Product, and Architecture to deliver the infrastructure and systems that all other engineering teams depend on.

This is not your standard delivery role. You’ll be driving delivery across teams responsible for Kubernetes platforms, cloud infrastructure, networking, databases, monitoring and CI/CD tooling. The work is technically complex, operationally sensitive, and highly interconnected - requiring strong delivery leadership combined with real technical understanding.

You’ll be accountable for aligning delivery with platform roadmaps, managing cross-team dependencies, and surfacing delivery and operational risks early - before they impact availability, security, or developer productivity. You’ll help teams plan and sequence work in a way that respects engineering realities such as on-call responsibilities, incidents, and production change risk.

Rather than focusing on process for its own sake, you’ll create the conditions for focused, sustainable execution - bringing clarity where there is ambiguity, structure where complexity exists, and momentum where it matters most. You’ll lead through influence, credibility, and trust, enabling teams to deliver high-impact platform capabilities that support Allwyn’s global technology estate.

This role offers the opportunity to shape how platform delivery works across Allwyn - improving how we plan, coordinate, and execute critical infrastructure change in a large-scale, mission-critical environment.

Team Delivery & Execution

  • Lead and coordinate delivery across 4 cross-functional platform engineering teams, ensuring alignment to strategic platform roadmaps and organisational priorities.
  • Drive execution of large-scale infrastructure and reliability initiatives (e.g. platform migrations, Kubernetes upgrades, networking changes, resilience improvements).
  • Facilitate agile ceremonies (planning, stand-ups, reviews, retrospectives) promotes meaningful outcomes rather than process for process’ sake.
  • Maintain accurate, transparent delivery plans and dashboards, reflecting real progress, risks, and operational impact.
  • Track delivery across scope, timelines, dependencies, and operational risk, raising issues early and driving resolution.

Technical Delivery & Platform Awareness

  • Act as a technically credible delivery partner to Platform Engineers and SREs, able to engage confidently on topics such as:

    • Kubernetes and container orchestration
    • Cloud infrastructure (compute, networking, storage)
    • Load balancing, CDNs, DNS, and traffic management
    • CI/CD pipelines and developer platforms
    • Observability, monitoring, and alerting
    • Relational databases
    • Reliability concepts such as SLOs, SLIs, error budgets, and incident management
    • Understand the operational impact of change in production systems and help teams plan delivery in a way that minimises risk and downtime.
    • Support delivery of work that spans multiple teams, services, and layers of the stack, often with non-linear dependencies.

Note: This role does not require hands-on coding, but does require strong technical understanding and the ability to challenge, question, and support engineering decisions.

Planning & Risk Management

  • Work with Product and Engineering to ensure delivery readiness - valid PRDs, tech designs, assets, and capacity in place before work begins.
  • Proactively identify and manage risks, blockers, and cross-team dependencies, escalating early and coordinating mitigation.
  • Monitor team velocity and ensure delivery plans remain realistic and aligned to team capacity.

Stakeholder Engagement & Communication

  • Act as the delivery point of contact for your teams - building trusted relationships with team members and leadership across Product, Technology, Capability Leads, and wider stakeholders.
  • Provide clear, timely updates on delivery progress, risks, and decisions - ensuring visibility at every level.
  • Participate in Scrum of Scrums and other delivery forums to drive alignment and surface cross-cutting issues early.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement - challenging the status quo and ensuring retro outcomes are actioned.
  • Ensure team alignment with SDLC processes and delivery governance.
  • Share lessons learned from your teams to improve and evolve our delivery capability - refining processes, tooling, and delivery practices across the organisation.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Delivery and fellow Delivery Leads to ensure consistency in standards, tooling, and execution.

Servant Leadership & Team Enablement

  • Lead through servant leadership - building trust through support, clarity, and consistent follow-through.

  • Foster team morale, ownership, and a culture of delivery excellence by empowering others to lead and succeed.

  • Shield teams from distractions, maintain focus, and provide context to help navigate changes or decisions that impact delivery.

  • Partner with Capability Leads to ensure teams are well-resourced, supported, and set up to succeed.

  • Proactively surface and address performance challenges - whether individual, team-wide, or process-related - working constructively to resolve issues and maintain delivery standards.

  • Deliver through others - enabling flow, guiding without controlling, and creating the space and momentum for teams to do their best work.

  • 5+ years’ experience driving delivery within complex software or infrastructure environments.

  • Proven experience delivering large-scale infrastructure or platform initiatives in cloud-native environments.

  • An understanding of modern infrastructure concepts, including Kubernetes, containers, networking, and distributed systems.

  • Experience working with or alongside SRE, Platform Engineering, or Infrastructure teams.

  • Deep knowledge of agile delivery principles, with the pragmatism to adapt them for platform and SRE contexts.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage risks, resolve blockers early, and maintain delivery momentum in complex environments.

  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to align Product, Engineering, and wider business teams.

  • Confident managing and communicating delivery metrics, ensuring clarity and visibility across all levels.

  • Comfortable operating in dynamic, fast-paced environments with shifting priorities and cross-team dependencies.

  • Highly organised, detail-oriented, and proactive - able to anticipate challenges and take action early.

  • Skilled at fostering a positive team culture grounded in collaboration, transparency, and continuous improvement.

  • Excellent communication skills in English (verbal and written), with the ability to present confidently in meetings, structure delivery updates effectively, and articulate key messages in slide decks and written reports - balancing brevity with the right level of detail.

  • Curious, adaptable, and committed to learning and growth.

  • A collaborative mindset and a clear passion for team success.
