Founded in London in 1912, we are a UK nationwide integrated waste management business. We offer waste collection, treatment, recycling, and energy generation services. We serve commercial, industrial, and public sector customers across the UK, helping them meet their legal and corporate responsibility commitments.

We partner with organizations like Company Shop Group to redistribute surplus food and work on environmental projects through BiffaAward and Waste Aid. We work with businesses of all sizes, from SMEs to larger organizations like Mitchell’s & Butler’s and Greggs. We also partner with 31 local authorities for household waste services.

With over 100 years of experience, we collect 15kt of waste daily and serve 95% of UK postcodes. Our plants have a plastic recycling capacity of 190k tonnes. We’ve generated 566 GWh of electricity from waste. Since 2002, we’ve cut our carbon emissions by 70% and aim for net zero by 2050. We hold Gold Standard Carbon Saver Certification, an AA MSCI ESG Rating, and a B- CDP Rating. Energy Capital Partners (ECP) acquired Biffa plc in January 2023. We operate In-Vessel Composting and Anaerobic Digestion plants for organic waste.
