Founded in 1954, we are dedicated to creating and sharing knowledge through collaboration between countries, universities, and scientists. Our primary focus is on fundamental research in particle physics, engineering, and computing, with the goal of advancing scientific understanding and making discoveries.

Our activities include designing, developing, and operating particle detectors, as well as analyzing data from experiments. We apply advanced machine learning algorithms for particle-flow reconstruction in projects like the CMS experiment and the Next Generation Trigger, and we explore these applications for future colliders such as FCC-ee, CLD, ALLEGRO, IDEA, and GRAiNITA within the Key4hep ecosystem.

We maintain and improve IT monitoring solutions for our Datacenter, the Worldwide LHC Computing Grid (WLCG), and experimental communities. This involves technologies like Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Kafka, Kubernetes, FluentBit, OpenSearch, and Spark, with development primarily in Go, Python, or Java. We also handle complex logistical challenges for projects like the Future Circular Collider (FCC), which includes simulation-based analysis for surface and underground logistics, installation planning, risk assessment, and resource allocation. Financial professionals here manage short- and long-term financial planning, prepare budgets for Governing Bodies, and lead finance transformation initiatives.

We offer a competitive tax-free salary. Employees receive 30 days of paid leave per year, plus an annual two-week closure. A comprehensive health insurance scheme covers the employee, spouse, and children, and membership in the CERN Pension Fund is included. A relocation package, which may include an installation grant, removal, and travel expenses, is offered depending on circumstances. Contract extensions are available, with some roles potentially leading to indefinite tenure. Hybrid working is available, and we provide on-the-job and formal training, including language classes. The standard work week is 40 hours.
