Introduction

You will be part of the Experimental Physics (EP) Department which carries out research in the field of experimental particle physics. This Department aims to provide a stimulating scientific atmosphere and remains an important reference centre for the European physics community. It contributes to the education and training of young scientists.

Functions

  • Take a leading role in all aspects of particle physics experiments, including the conception and design of experiments, the building and operation of detectors and the analysis of data.
  • Coordinate or make important contributions to studies, projects or committee work.
  • Represent the Organization at conferences, workshops, or in other research laboratories and institutions.
  • Supervise research and development work, and planning and managing activities including material and personnel resources.

Qualifications

PhD or equivalent relevant experience in the field of particle physics or a related field.

Experience:

  • You have an established record of post-doctoral experience and have completed high-impact work in experimental particle physics research.
  • Experience in data analysis and in the use of on-line / off-line software.
  • Demonstrated competence in detector hardware and experimental instrumentation.
  • Capacity for innovation and potential for making a significant contribution to the scientific programme of the Organization.
  • PhD in the field of particle physics or a related field.

Technical competencies:

  • Analysis and interpretation of experimental data.
  • Knowledge and application of physics reconstruction techniques.
  • Simulation, design and development of physics experiments.
  • Operation of experiments.

Behavioural competencies:

  • Communicating Effectively; Building Relationships; Working in Teams.
  • Achieving Results; Setting Direction; Leading with Strength and Credibility; Creating Vision and Strategic Partnerships.

Language skills: Spoken and written English, with a commitment to learn French.

Eligibility and closing date:

The holder of an indefinite contract is expected to progress in this initial assignment or in other domains as required for the fulfilment of the Organization’s mission.

Employment Conditions

Contract type: Indefinite contract.

Working Hours: 40 hours per week

Job Flexibility: Hybrid

This position involves:

  • Work in Radiation Areas.
  • Work during nights, Sundays and official holidays.
  • Interventions in underground installations.

  • A copy of your PhD degree.
