About E1 (AU / NZ)
We operate a tender management platform connecting commercial builders, subcontractors, and suppliers. Our online tender management software helps commercial builders, we track commercial construction leads for subcontractors and suppliers, and we promote tenders and awarded contracts. We serve the Australian, New Zealand, UK, and Ireland construction industries. Our platform lets builders manage trade packages and quote submissions, subcontractors find projects and submit quotes, and suppliers track product specifications in tenders.
We were formerly known as EstimateOne. Michael Ashcroft and Andrew Ritchie founded the company in 2008 in Melbourne, Victoria, aiming to digitize the commercial construction estimating process. We operate as a SaaS company, headquartered in Richmond, Melbourne. In 2022, we secured investment from Potentia Capital and Saniel Ventures, which supported our expansion into the UK market. We have between 51 and 200 employees.
Last year, over 100,000 Australian organizations used our platform, with Australian Head Contractors posting 24,000 tenders worth $354 billion for 2025. Our network currently includes over 900 builders, 50,000+ subcontractors, and 7,000+ suppliers.
Mission & Values
Our core mission is to support the construction industry. We operate by the principle of ‘cranes before code,’ focusing on understanding and addressing the daily challenges faced by estimators, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Our values are:
- Enabled expertise: We recognize and embrace individual strengths, take ownership of our roles and development, spot opportunities and problems, and create an environment for success.
- Authentic ambition: We aim to achieve success fairly, bringing value to our team, industry, and shareholders, and creating long-term value.
- Cranes before Code: We emphasize clear, regular, and concise communication, are direct with colleagues and customers, view honesty as a platform for improvement, and assume positive intent.
- Forthright & frank: We prioritize outcomes over processes, understand customer needs, and thoroughly grasp problems before seeking solutions.
Team & Culture
Our team has 51-200 employees across Australia, New Zealand, and the UK. We were recognized as the 3rd Best Place to Work in technology by the Australian Financial Review in 2022 and again as a Best Place to Work in 2025. Our headquarters are in Richmond, Melbourne, with team members also working remotely across Australia, New Zealand, and the UK.
We foster a flexible work environment where employees can choose to work from the office, home, or a hybrid model. We also encourage teams to determine their preferred level of in-person collaboration. We support a culture that values personal development, performance, and wellness. We are committed to diversity, inclusion, equity, and belonging (DEIB). Our aim is to create a workplace where everyone can be themselves and has equal opportunities. We launched a DEIB strategy with initiatives for 2024 and intend to transparently share progress on data collection and the gender pay gap.
