Job Description

  • 1.0 FTE Full‑Time ongoing (Monday to Friday, with 1–2 after‑hours days finishing at 8pm)
  • Based at Ringwood, on the lands of the Wurundjeri People, with work between sites and hybrid work available
  • $51.23–$54.39 per hour + 12% Super + generous salary packaging (up to $18,550)

Join our Child, Youth & Family Wellbeing team within the Family Relationship Centre (FRC). You’ll deliver child‑focused, trauma‑informed Family Dispute Resolution (FDR) in a multidisciplinary environment—supporting separating parents and caregivers to create safe, future‑focused parenting arrangements that prioritise children’s needs, experiences and voices.

Your role, your impact

We’re seeking an experienced and compassionate Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner who keeps children at the centre of decision‑making and embeds child‑inclusive/child‑informed practice into every aspect of FDR.

In this role, you will:

  • Deliver Family Dispute Resolution (FDR) in line with legislative and operational requirements, maintaining neutrality and a future‑focused stance.
  • Facilitate agreements across parenting, child welfare, child support and financial/property matters using a family‑systems approach.
  • Embed child‑inclusive/child‑informed practice, ensuring children’s voices and developmental needs are reflected ethically and safely in parenting arrangements.
  • Assess child‑focused risk continuously and co‑design safety plans, including responding to family violence, psychological harm, mental illness, substance use and disability.
  • Engage high‑conflict and mandated clients using structured, evidence‑informed strategies.
  • Document accurately and compliantly, using FRC and EACH templates and meeting all quality, legal and procedural standards.
  • Practice cultural safety and inclusion, working respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, CALD communities and LGBTIQ+ clients.
  • Coordinate referrals and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and external services to ensure holistic client support.
  • Facilitate group programs, including the Parenting Orders Program (POP) and general information sessions.

Who we’re looking for

  • Accredited Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner (FDRP) who is calm, neutral and child‑focused when supporting families through high‑conflict situations.
  • Risk‑aware practitioner with strong assessment skills and an understanding of the impacts of parental conflict and family violence on children.
  • Inclusive communicator with excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to work collaboratively across services.
  • Organised and reliable professional with strong time‑management and documentation skills.

What will make you stand out

  • Child‑inclusive/child‑informed FDR expertise—ability to safely elicit, interpret and represent children’s experiences within FDR, and translate insights into practical, developmentally appropriate parenting arrangements.
  • Strong child development and attachment knowledge, with the confidence to communicate children’s needs to parents in accessible, supportive ways.
  • Family‑systems and trauma‑informed approach, balancing the needs, perspectives and safety of all family members.
  • Legislative and framework knowledge, including the Family Law Act, FRC Operational Framework, MARAM and Information Sharing Schemes (FVISS/CISS).
  • High‑conflict and mandated client engagement skills, including the use of structured, safe, future‑focused interventions.
  • Group facilitation capability, ideally with experience delivering the Parenting Orders Program (POP) or similar.
