About the team
You’ll join People & Culture, a team that supports our people to thrive so they can deliver meaningful care to communities across Australia. Payroll plays a critical role in ensuring our people are paid accurately, on time, and in line with our values of fairness, trust, and care.
Your role, your impact
This role sits at the heart of Each. As Payroll Team Leader, you’ll lead the payroll function that supports over 1,400 employees and volunteers, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and confidence for our people, every pay cycle.
You’ll combine hands-on payroll leadership with continuous improvement and strong partnership across the organisation, helping leaders, managers, and employees feel supported, informed, and heard.
In this role you will:
- Lead and own the end-to-end payroll function (with 4 payroll officers), ensuring accurate and compliant payroll delivery
- Oversee and coordinate fortnightly payroll processing, approvals, and final termination payments
- Ensure compliance with enterprise agreements, legislation, PAYG, superannuation, and leave obligations
- Build trusted relationships with leaders and teams as the key point of contact for payroll
- Drive continuous improvement through payroll audits, reporting, and system enhancements
- Partner with systems and data teams on upgrades, award interpretation, and payroll system changes
- Analyse payroll data and trends to identify risks, opportunities, and smarter ways of working
- Lead, coach, and develop the payroll team, fostering a supportive and collaborative culture
- Provide guidance to P&C and the broader business on payroll processes and systems
This is a role where your work has real impact - supporting people to feel secure, valued, and able to focus on what matters.
Who we’re looking for
You’ll thrive in this role if you bring:
- Experience leading or supervising a payroll function in a complex organisation
- A curious mindset with a continuous focus on improving processes across the end-to-end payroll lifecycle.
- Strong knowledge of enterprise agreements, modern awards, and the National Employment Standards
- Confidence working hands-on in payroll processing while leading a small team
- Strong attention to detail and a thoughtful, problem-solving mindset
- The ability to communicate clearly and build trust with a wide range of stakeholders
- A collaborative, inclusive approach to leadership and teamwork
- An appreciation of, or experience in, the not-for-profit or community services sector
Advantageous experience and/or qualifications
- Payroll or accounting qualifications
- Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. AHRI)
- Experience working in large or multi-site organisations with multiple complex awards
