Role Description:
The IT Asset & License Manager is responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle management of the organization’s technology assets. This role ensures that all hardware and software investments are tracked, optimized, and compliant. You will bridge the gap between IT, Procurement, and Finance to minimize waste, mitigate audit risks, and ensure employees have the tools they need to succeed.
In this role, you’ll:
Software Asset Management
- Maintain a real-time inventory of software licenses, subscriptions, and maintenance agreements.
- Conduct regular internal audits to ensure compliance with vendor terms and prevent “true-up” penalties.
- Manage the renewal calendar, providing data-driven recommendations to leadership before contract expirations.
- Create access management policies and procedures for key applications.
Hardware Lifecycle Management
- Oversee the selection and ordering of laptops, mobile devices, and infrastructure components.
- Manage inventory levels with vendors to ensure just in time delivery.
- Maintain an accurate database of all assets, including their location, user assignment, and warranty status.
- Manage hardware refresh cycles to ensure the fleet remains performant and secure.
- Ensure secure and environmentally responsible disposal of end-of-life hardware, including certified data destruction.
Strategic Financial Oversight
- Track total cost of ownership (TCO) for assets and assist in annual IT budgeting.
- Partner with procurement to negotiate favorable terms with vendors and resellers.
- Create weekly and monthly dashboards on asset health, license utilization, and budget variances.
At a minimum we’d like you to have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience in IT Asset Management, software licensing, or a similar IT procurement role, with a strong focus on enterprise-level environments.
- Knowledge of various software licensing models (e.g., perpetual, subscription, user-based, device-based, concurrent-use) and hardware logistics
- Experience with Asset Management software (e.g., ServiceNow) and Excel.
It’s preferred if you have:
- Experience working in an ISP or telecommunications environment
- Relevant certifications CSAM (Certified Software Asset Manager) or CHAMP (Certified Hardware Asset Management Professional)
- Ability to use written and verbal communication to explain fixes and ideas to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience with leading SAM tools in Servicenow, Productiv
The US base salary range for this full-time position is between $139,200 - $203,300 + bonus + cash award + benefits. As pay varies by location, your recruiter will share more about the specific salary range for your targeted location during the hiring process.
