Meet the LEAP Estates team

The LEAP Estates team is a specialist division within LEAP, focused on building software for Estates Lawyers. We’re a cross-functional team of legal professionals, software engineers, designers, and client-focused specialists, working closely together to deliver practical products used every day by Estate firms.

Our work is guided by in-house Australian Estate Lawyers and informed by a well-established client feedback function, ensuring our products are shaped by real legal practice and continue to evolve in line with how lawyers actually work.

What you’ll do

You’ll partner with cross-functional stakeholders to transform new ideas into robust, production-ready applications. With a high degree of ownership, you’ll influence architectural decisions, establish best practices, and drive delivery from concept to release.

To make this happen, you will:

  • Design, develop and manage backend APIs and services
  • Provide scalability to ensure the application can handle mass amounts of data and users
  • Implement secure customer authentication
  • Find ways to evolve and improve the way we develop, deploy and deliver software
  • Revise, update, refactor, and debug code
  • Test and deploy applications and systems
  • Use Git version control to manage codebase

What you’ll bring

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience as a Full-Stack Software Engineer
  • A strong interest in implementing AI-driven applications
  • Strong proficiency in front-end development using modern web technologies, particularly React.
  • Expertise in at least one modern server-side programming language or framework (e.g. C#/.NET, TypeScript/Node.js etc.)
  • Solid experience with database technologies. (e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB etc.)
  • In-depth understanding of software development methodologies, software architecture, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in automated testing tooling and best practices (e.g. Cypress, Playwright, Jest etc.)
  • Familiarity with cloud computing platforms like AWS and related tools.
  • Exposure to the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, UI/UX design, testing, CI/CD, and release planning.

Consider it a bonus if you have:

  • Commercial experience with Next.js.
  • Experience with database design.
  • Hands-on experience building AI-powered applications
  • Familiarity with AI-powered software development tooling such as Cursor, Claude Code, Figma Make etc.
  • Previous experience in a start-up environment or fast-paced company, where agility in picking up and working with unfamiliar technologies is essential.

You are the type of person who

  • Communicates clearly and collaborates naturally, partnering effectively with developers, designers and stakeholders to bring ideas to life.
  • Thinks creatively and approaches challenges with curiosity, recognising that not every problem has a standard solution.
  • Stays current with emerging trends and best practices, driven by a genuine desire to continuously improve and refine your craft.
  • Thrives in a dynamic environment, adapting quickly to feedback and evolving priorities without losing momentum.
  • Works with transparency and accountability, clearly articulating technical decisions and progress to ensure alignment with leadership and company standards.

LEAP is an inclusive, people-first company committed to breaking down institutional barriers that keep people from reaching their potential. If you meet some, but not all the requirements above, we encourage you to still submit your application.

Why join LEAP?

  • Your work matters. Helping lawyers help people sits at the heart of everything we do. We solve real world problems that improve and support local, everyday law firms. So they can do their best work for the people in the communities they serve.
  • Make an impact. You won’t be another ‘cog in the wheel’ here. We give full trust and autonomy for you to be heard, to work on big & complex projects – and to make a real difference.
  • Work with a group of authentic, passionate people who love what they do.
  • Flexible and hybrid working. We’d like to find this person in Sydney, but we want you to work in a way that suits you and we’re open to flexible arrangements that support you.
  • Grow your career with us. Our founder Christian Beck has been building legal tech businesses for over 30 years. There are opportunities galore to expand your career based on where your interests lie. We’re not afraid to pivot based on market conditions - you will always have the opportunity to stay ahead of the curve and do your best work here.
  • Have fun with us. Celebrations. Socials. Sports teams. Access to sailing and yacht events.
  • We value your well-being - enjoy an additional paid wellbeing day every year, free gym membership, corporate dental plan and weekly massages in the office.
  • Work in a new, beautiful office space– with a catered lunch and breakfast every week, fully stocked kitchen and an on-site barista.
  • Access to LEAP Home - a program unique to LEAP to support you in buying your primary residence.
