Overall purpose and responsibilities of the role:
The role covers end-to-end financial strategy, planning, and controls. Key responsibilities include building forecasts and cash models, turning insights into actions for margin and EBITDA improvement, and managing data/BI systems with clear metric definitions and dashboards. It also involves fast, accurate accounting close with proper controls, direct ownership of contractor and marketplace payouts, and running a comprehensive KPI system across revenue, margins, OpEx, CAC/LTV, cash runway, and forecast accuracy
Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategy & FP&A
- Build a driver-based 12-month forecast and 13-week cash model with scenarios (pricing/take-rate tests, churn shifts, ACH vs card mix, discounts).
- Translate insights into actions: margin improvements, pricing guardrails, headcount plan, and “levers to hit target EBITDA & runway.”
Data & BI
- Own metric definitions and the data model from ERP/PSP/CRM → BI (any modern stack).
- Ship exec dashboards and weekly KPI readouts; maintain forecast vs actuals and variance/MAPE.
Accounting & Controls
- Fast monthly close (≤5 biz days); subscription/marketplace revenue recognition; payout/fees reconciliation (Stripe/Adyen/PayPal or similar).
- Establish lightweight controls, dispute tracking, and audit-ready files.
Payouts
- Direct ownership of internal contractor & and marketplace contractor payouts with Stripe connect
KPI system you’ll run
- Net Platform Revenue & MRR (post fees), LQA ARR, Realized Take-Rate % (NetRev ÷ GMV)
- Payment Cost % of GMV (blended), ACH/Fee Pass-Through %
- Gross Margin % (post processing), Contribution Margin % (post variable ops)
- OpEx (monthly) & OpEx % of NetRev, EBITDA $ / %, Rule of 40
- CAC Payback (blended), LTV:CAC, Burn Multiple (Net Burn ÷ Net New ARR)
- Cash balance & runway, DSO, AR>30d aging
- Refunds + Chargebacks % of NetRev, Stripe dispute win rate, payout lag
- Forecast accuracy (MRR) — MAPE, Budget vs Actual variance, Breakeven GMV/Orders
Must-have Skills / Qualification:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in finance or accounting.
- CPA or CFA certification is a plus but not required.
- 3–5+ years of finance experience in SaaS/marketplace or staffing agency environments (required).
- Proficient in Excel/Google Sheets; fluent in BI tool (Power BI, Tableau, Looker, Metabase).
- SQL experience is an advantage.
- At least two exposures to ERP/PSP-agnostic systems (e.g., NetSuite, Intacct, QuickBooks, Odoo, Zoho; Stripe, Adyen, PayPal).
- Strong communication skills with the ability to brief the CEO/Board and translate analysis into action.
