Job Description
About OnePay
OnePay is the consumer fintech trusted by millions of Americans to make money better.
Our financial system is broken. High fees, low rates, and too few ways to actually grow your money. We’re fixing it. And we’re moving fast.
We’re an all-in-one financial services platform that brings together banking, high-yield savings, credit cards, point-of-sale lending, investing, and crypto in one place. We also partner with employers, HCM providers, gig platforms, and others to deliver embedded financial services to millions of employees and frontline workers.
We’re backed by Walmart, the world’s largest retailer, and Ribbit Capital, one of fintech’s most respected investors, giving us rare scale, distribution, and the opportunity to build something truly category-defining.
But what really sets OnePay apart is how we move. Our customers don’t have time to wait… and neither do we. This place moves fast, and we’re looking for people who are:
Ready to run
Hungry and driven by urgency
Exceptional at what they do, with low ego
Comfortable operating in motion
The role
As a Compliance Testing professional, you will help strengthen OnePay’s Compliance Testing Program by turning regulatory requirements and control objectives into clear, risk-based testing. You will independently assess control effectiveness, identify consumer-risk themes, and deliver evidence-based conclusions that help the business move quickly and responsibly.
You will partner closely with Compliance Controls, Product, Operations, Risk, Legal, Data, Engineering, and Marketing. Reporting to the Compliance Testing Lead, you will contribute to annual planning, testing execution, issue management, and concise reporting for senior stakeholders. This role is well suited for a high-ownership operator who is comfortable working through ambiguity, building practical solutions, and raising the bar as OnePay scales.
What You’ll Do
Plan and execute risk-based compliance testing across OnePay products, customer journeys, operational processes, marketing communications, servicing, complaints, and third-party activities.
Develop clear testing objectives, populations, procedures, evidence requirements, and conclusions that are reproducible, well-supported, and aligned to the applicable regulatory requirement and control objective.
Assess the design and operating effectiveness of preventive and detective controls; identify root causes, customer-impact considerations, and practical opportunities to strengthen or automate controls.
Perform data-driven analysis by coordinating with stakeholders, validating source data, evaluating population completeness and accuracy, and documenting data limitations or exceptions.
Evaluate compliance with applicable federal and state consumer-financial requirements, including but not limited to UDAAP, ECOA/Regulation B, EFTA/Regulation E, TILA/Regulation Z, FCRA/Regulation V, GLBA/Regulation P, FDCPA, Regulation DD, FINRA, SEC requirements, and relevant state laws and regulations.
Draft high-quality workpapers, findings, observations, and management reports that clearly describe the requirement, condition, risk, customer impact, root cause, and recommended corrective action.
Track remediation commitments, validate corrective-action closure, and communicate emerging risks, control themes, and testing results to senior management and key business partners.
Contribute to the annual Compliance Testing Plan and Compliance Risk Assessment by identifying regulatory changes, product changes, complaint trends, audit results, and other risk indicators.
Maintain current knowledge of regulatory developments, enforcement trends, and industry practices relevant to OnePay’s products and operations.
Use AI tools thoughtfully to improve the speed and quality of testing — including regulatory research, evidence analysis, workpaper drafting, issue spotting, and knowledge management while applying appropriate human review, data-handling, confidentiality, and governance controls.
Build lightweight, scalable testing methods, documentation standards, dashboards, and automation that help Compliance move fast, stay rigorous, and keep improving. Additional duties as assigned by your manager.
You bring
Professional fluency in written and spoken English.
Five to ten years of experience in compliance testing, compliance monitoring, audit, or consulting within consumer financial services, fintech, banking, or a similarly regulated environment.
Demonstrated experience executing regulatory or control reviews and translating regulatory requirements into practical, risk-based test procedures.
Working knowledge of U.S. consumer-financial-services regulations and the ability to research and apply federal and state requirements to products, processes, and customer communications.
Strong analytical skills, including experience assessing data quality, defining test populations, investigating exceptions, and drawing balanced, evidence-based conclusions.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare concise, high-impact reports for senior management and collaborate effectively across functions.
Exceptional organization, attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to manage competing priorities while meeting deadlines.
AI-forward: hands-on fluency with AI tooling and genuine interest in using it responsibly to improve testing velocity, analysis quality, and knowledge sharing without compromising confidentiality, accuracy, or professional judgment.
An act-like-an-owner mentality, intellectual curiosity, and a bias toward action. You are comfortable with ambiguity, low ego, and energized by solving meaningful problems alongside cross-functional partners.
CRCM, CIA, CISA, CAMS, or comparable certification — or active progress toward one — is a plus.
