Job Description

The AVEVA Engineering Administrator is embedded within the Ramboll Tech Team and acts as a core technical function responsible for the administration, governance, and support of AVEVA platforms for the Energy Global Business Area (GBA).

The role provides centralized ownership of AVEVA environments, standards, and integrations, ensuring stable, secure, and standardized system operations across Energy projects. Working as an integral member of Ramboll Tech, the position supports global project teams throughout the full project lifecycle—from setup and execution to handover and close-out.

Job Description

AVEVA Engineering Administrator

  • Act as the custodian and single point of ownership for AVEVA Engineering projects within the Energy Global Business Area.
  • Take end-to-end responsibility for day-to-day AVEVA Engineering operations, ensuring platform stability, availability, and performance.
  • Own project environment setup, including databases, MDBs, user access, roles, and permissions, in line with discipline governance.
  • Own and administrate the AVEVA Global setup, serving as the central authority for configuration across Energy GBA projects.
  • Manage and govern AVEVA Engineering Conceptual model, ensuring controlled updates and compliance with project and client standards.
  • Own AVEVA configuration administration, including templates, DBViews, revisions control, and PBS explorer.
  • Monitor system health and proactively manage issues, risks, and operational incidents affecting Engineering projects.
  • Look for initiatives for automation and ongoing improvement. Work together with the development team to improve user experience and operational efficiency using PML and C#.
  • Maintain operational documentation, change logs, and best-practice guidelines.
  • Support user onboarding, provide expert guidance, and act as the go-to authority for Engineering-related queries.

Areas of responsibility

AVEVA Engineering Platform Administration

  • Administrate, maintain, and support AVEVA Engineering 15.7 environments for Energy GBA projects.
  • Set up and manage projects, MDBs, users, roles, access controls, and environments in line with Ramboll Tech standards.
  • Configure Compare and update setup for data synchronization between AVEVA applications.
  • Perform system health checks, backups, restorations, and upgrades.
  • Troubleshoot application issues related to performance, access, database integrity, and multi-user conflicts.

AVEVA Configuration

  • Configure, maintain, and administer the Conceptual Model in alignment with Ramboll and Energy GBA standards.
  • Create and modify templates, DBViews, revisions control, and PBS explorer setup
  • Set up and manage the TMR system, including SQL database configuration and user access management.
  • Identify and resolve SQL database name conflicts and perform related troubleshooting as required.

AVEVA Tool Development

  • Act as an integral member of the Ramboll development team, contributing to the enhancement of automation and operational efficiency within AVEVA applications.

  • Design, develop, and implement automation solutions to streamline workflows and improve system performance.

  • Maintain and manage the existing code repository, ensuring stability, version control compliance, and continuous improvements when required.

  • Identify opportunities for optimization and proactively implement enhancements to existing tools and processes.

  • Develop, customize, and support solutions using PML (Programmable Macro Language) within AVEVA environments.

  • Leverage C# for developing integrations, plugins, and automation utilities that interface with AVEVA application APIs and data environments.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand technical requirements and translate them into effective software solutions.

  • Provide troubleshooting, debugging, and technical support for deployed automation solutions.

  • Ensuring coding standards, documentation practices, and best development methodologies are consistently followed.

Azure DevOps

  • Demonstrate working knowledge of Azure DevOps for managing assigned tasks, tracking progress, and updating work items.
  • Understand and follow the Git version control process, including branching, committing changes, resolving conflicts, and maintaining code integrity.
  • Understand Agile concepts such as user stories, acceptance criteria, and product backlog to effectively execute assigned development tasks.
  • Create, review, and merge pull requests while ensuring proper code validation, peer review compliance, and adherence to repository standards.

Project & User Support

  • Act as the primary Engineering technical point of contact within Ramboll Tech for Energy GBA projects.
  • Support multi-discipline engineering teams (Piping, Structural, Electrical, HVAC, Mechanical, Telecom, Instrumentation).
  • Provide user onboarding and best-practice guidance.
  • Support model handover, archiving, and project close-out activities.

Standards, Governance & Continuous Improvement

  • Ensure all AVEVA Engineering setups are aligned with the Ramboll Cloud strategy and established Design Environment standards.
  • Identify and implement automation opportunities within the AVEVA Engineering environment using scripts, utilities, or tools (PML, PowerShell, Script).
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring AVEVA Engineering operations remain efficient, compliant, and standardized across all Energy GBA projects

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in E ngineering or related technical Field.

  • 7 + years of experience in AVEVA Engineering administration preferably within Energy, Oil & Gas, Offshore, Power, Renewables projects.

  • Hands-on experience Required:

    • AVEVA Engineering 15.7, Including Configuration and Administration.
    • Strong experience in AVEVA PML scripting and customization
    • AVEVA Global setup and configuration
  • Experience with at least one programming language such as VB.NET, .NET, C#, Python, or any other relevant programming language.

  • Strong understanding of AVEVA data models, project structures, and multi-discipline interfaces.

  • Familiarity with AVEVA Engineering E&I tools will be considered an added advantage during the selection process.

  • Familiarity with AVEVA licensing models and AVEVA Connect.

  • Certification in AVEVA or relevant systems administration is a plus.
