Role Summary
The Senior Power System Study Engineer leads generator and large load interconnection support on behalf of Revamp’s Owner/Developer clients. This role independently applies extensive knowledge of power system modeling and ISO/utility interconnection processes to support projects from early-stage development through study completion and compliance closeout.
This role serves as a technical lead for interconnection modeling, study review, and regulatory alignment across multiple ISOs and utilities. This position requires strong independent judgment, direct client interaction, and the ability to guide internal teams through complex and evolving interconnection requirements. This role may be performed remotely from either the US or Canada.

Duties & Responsibilities
Interconnection Support
- Support interconnection projects across ERCOT, PJM, CAISO, MISO, SPP, NYISO, and utility/cooperative systems.
- Support clients from early plant sizing and application submission through scoping meetings, study reviews, mitigation discussions, and compliance closeout.
- Review ISO/utility study assumptions and results; identify issues and support responses or re-study requests.
- Support large load interconnection modeling, assumptions, and study sensitivities
Model Development & Studies
Develop steady-state and dynamic interconnection models per ISO/utility requirements.
- Perform RMS and EMT studies using PSS®E / PSLF and PSCAD.
Work with vendor and user-defined (UDM) inverter models; perform model tuning and validation.
Support grid-following (GFL) and grid-forming (GFM) inverter modeling.
Prepare model validation/model quality test reports suitable for ISO/utility submittals and audits.
Compliance & Standards
- Ensure alignment with applicable FERC Orders governing interconnection processes, relevant NERC reliability standards (including MOD, PRC, and FAC), and IEEE 1547 and IEEE 2800 as implemented by ISOs and utilities.
- Apply sound engineering judgment and standard company procedures to deliver accurate, defensible, and high-quality technical work products.
- Maintain alignment with project scope, schedule, and budget constraints while proactively identifying risks or deviations.
- Track interconnection reforms, tariff changes, and modeling requirement updates.
Additional Responsibilities
- Communicate impacts to internal developer services and design teams.
- Mentor staff engineers.
- Participate in industry working groups and stakeholder meetings.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned or directed in support of team and client needs.
- Perform essential duties, including meeting project deliverables, deadlines, and quality expectations.
Experience, Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Required
- Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems focus preferred).
- 8+ years of experience performing power system studies with a focus on generator and/or large load interconnection.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with PSS®E, PSLF, and PSCAD.
- Strong working knowledge of interconnection processes across multiple ISOs and utilities.
- Experience preparing interconnection models and supporting ISO/utility study review cycles.
- Strong technical writing skills, including preparation of formal submittals and compliance documentation.
- Ability to independently evaluate, select, and adapt modeling procedures and criteria for complex assignments.
Preferred
- Experience supporting utility-scale renewable generation (solar, storage, hybrid resources).
- Prior experience representing owners/developers in ISO study processes.
- Participation in ISO stakeholder groups or industry working committees.
- Professional Engineer (PE or Canadian P.Eng) license preferred.
- Familiar with the components of Large Load models
- Experience with TSAT / TARA is desirable
