About Sierra Club
Founded in 1892, we are a grassroots environmental organization. We promote clean energy, safeguard community health, protect wildlife, and preserve wild places through activism, public education, lobbying, and legal action. We focus on stopping oil and gas expansion, transitioning to a clean-energy economy, protecting lands, waters, and wildlife, and advocating for equitable access to clean air, fresh water, a safe climate, and nature for all.
We have staff nationwide and a network of local chapters, like the Angeles Chapter (covering Los Angeles and San Diego counties) and the San Fernando Valley Group. Our Outings program offers outdoor adventures, and Sierra magazine is our national print and digital publication covering green living, outdoor adventure, and environmental issues. Local chapters work on regional conservation, including efforts with the Sepulveda Basin Wildlife Steering Committee, opposing certain developments, and addressing oil drilling and gas storage.
