About Simprints
We are a non-profit tech company that builds open-source biometric ID technology. We aim to increase transparency and effectiveness in global development, helping ensure that essential services like vaccines and public goods reach their intended recipients. We were founded in 2013 and started at the University of Cambridge in 2015. Our core offering, SimprintsID, is the first open-source biometric ID platform designed with privacy at its core. It helps teams verify, monitor, and improve the delivery of essential services.
Our technology is affordable, accurate, and scalable, especially for offline, rugged, and remote environments in rural Africa and Asia. We build it to accommodate diverse biometric features, including darker skin tones or worn fingerprints. The platform offers a choice of biometric options (fingerprint or facial recognition), an Android application (SimprintsID), a cloud-hosted backend server, and impact dashboards.
We provide services like Biometric ID integrations, offering custom configurations, training, and ongoing support to integrate with existing platforms. We also offer real-time monitoring and evaluation through custom dashboards for measuring program reach and informing decisions with data. Our verified delivery system provides a reliable record to accurately track services delivered and unique individuals reached, using biometric verification combined with biographic, GPS, and timestamp data.
We have enrolled over 4 million people and reached 17 countries, with 4,751 active users. Our goal is to reach 20 million lives. Our partners include Gavi, Ghana Health Services, Arm, Autodesk, CIFF, BRAC, Cohesu, Impact Network, Minister of Health of Ethiopia, and Mercy Corps. Our technology integrates with platforms built on open standards, such as DHIS2, CommCare, ODK, and OpenSRP.
Mission & Values
Our mission is to transform how the world fights poverty and disease. We build technology to increase transparency and effectiveness in global development, making sure vaccines, financial aid, and public goods reach their intended beneficiaries.
