Virtual Patient Service Representative – Cardiology (Hybrid)

You’ll support follow-up cardiology appointments generated directly from NP task lists — running eligibility, ensuring referrals are secured, managing reminders, and protecting provider schedules.
What You’ll Do
Work EMR-generated follow-up tasks (ex: return to clinic)
Schedule follow-up appointments only
Run insurance eligibility and confirm active coverage
Ensure referrals are secured and documented
Assist with prior authorization coordination
Manage reminder system to reduce no-shows
Refill canceled appointments quickly
Respond to administrative message pools
Print, fax, and mail patient letters or summaries
You are responsible for protecting provider schedules and keeping follow-up care organized.
Ideal Background
This role is ideal for experienced outpatient or specialty clinic schedulers who are comfortable:
Managing provider calendars
Running insurance eligibility
Coordinating referrals
Supporting prior authorization processes
Working independently from structured task lists
Cardiology experience is a plus — not required.
Strong specialty clinic backgrounds such as GI, orthopedics, pulmonary, oncology, urology, or internal medicine transition well.

Must Haves
High school diploma or GED
2+ years medical scheduling or patient access experience in an outpatient or specialty clinic setting preferred
Strong insurance eligibility and referral knowledge
EMR/EHR experience
Strong communication skills — personable, clear, and confident when supporting patients virtually
Comfortable working in a structured, virtual coordination model
Work Environment
Professional high-rise office in Columbia, MD
4 days onsite
1 designated remote day
