Golden Gate Regional Center (GGRC)

State-funded nonprofit assisting individuals with developmental disabilities in Marin, San Francisco, and San Mateo counties.

About Golden Gate Regional Center (GGRC)

We are a state and federally funded nonprofit that serves individuals with developmental disabilities in Marin, San Francisco, and San Mateo counties. We help individuals and their families get the services they need to live more independently and productively.

We were established in 1966 as one of California’s first regional centers. We are part of a statewide system created by the Lanterman Mental Retardation Services Act in 1969, which now includes 21 regional centers. The Lanterman Developmental Disabilities Services Act of 1974 broadened our services to include people with cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism, and other conditions related to intellectual disability. In 1993, the California Early Intervention Services Act added “Early Start” services for infants and toddlers (up to 36 months old) who have a developmental delay or are at high risk. California’s regional centers collectively serve over 400,000 people.

Our services include case management under the Lanterman Act. We particularly focus on Early Start assessments for applicants aged 0-36 months. This involves coordinating eligibility, creating Initial Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs), conducting clinical interviews, gathering developmental and family information, and working with various professional teams. We also provide information, referrals, and advocacy. We strictly follow HIPAA and state regulations for handling confidential client and agency data.

We have offices in San Francisco (our main office), Marin County, and San Mateo County.

Team & Culture

We are a team of 201 to 500 employees. Our work environment often uses hybrid schedules, combining in-home client visits, in-office work at our San Francisco, San Mateo, and Marin county locations, and remote work. Many roles require local travel and reliable transportation.

Our culture is diverse, supportive, and community-focused, and we are committed to inclusive practices. We encourage strong teamwork across different professional groups. Our work involves advocacy, empowering families, and delivering services tailored to each person’s needs.

Benefits & Perks

We offer a robust benefits package. This includes medical and dental benefits with a strong employer contribution, plus employer-paid life, disability, and vision coverage. We contribute 10% of your salary to a 403(b) retirement account.

Our time off includes 13 vacation days, 15 sick days, 11 paid holidays, 6 personal holidays, and up to 5 paid days for continuing education.
