Shatterproof

We are a national nonprofit working to reverse the addiction crisis in the United States. We transform addiction treatment, end stigma, and support communities affected by substance use disorder. We also guide people through substance use disorder and remove systemic, healthcare, and social barriers to recovery.

We offer the Treatment Atlas, a free and confidential online tool for individuals and families to compare addiction treatment programs nationwide, helping them find quality, evidence-based care. We also conduct the Shatterproof Addiction Stigma Index (SASI), a survey of public attitudes about substance use disorder and affected individuals in the U.S. This survey, first fielded in 2021, explores public knowledge, attitudes, and beliefs to change the national conversation around addiction.

Our key initiatives include the Shatterproof Walk to End Addiction Stigma, providing resources for “Dry January,” and managing the “Just Five” workplace education program.

Our vision is that no one suffers or dies from substance use disorder. We recognize it as a preventable and treatable disease. Our mission is to guide people through substance use disorder and remove systemic, healthcare, and social barriers to recovery. We believe addiction is an illness that should be treated like any other.

We have 51-200 employees. Our team consists of dedicated staff and leaders who are passionate about ending the addiction crisis in America. Our culture is built on the belief that addiction is an illness that should be treated like any other. Our employees work on projects that save lives by breaking down stigma, transforming treatment, empowering communities, and driving policy change. Some roles, such as the Social Marketing Coordinator, are remote.
